Movement and exercises may be considered in two ways : external physical exercises ; cardio, toning, stretches and movements and internal exercises that cultivate Vital Life Force (Chi).  Here we offer both.

Yoga is a spiritual and physical discipline that originated in ancient India that brings together in union the physical, mental and spiritual aspects,  with a view to attaining a state of permanent peace.  This is achieved by being connected and grounded in this space and time, knowing and finding your own Centre (core of being) for balance and integration.

There are many forms of Yoga.  Something hopefully for everyone to enjoy, and able to fully participate in, regardless of your Fitness Level.  You are always encouraged to work to your limitations. Always check with your GP beforehand about your any specific health issue, injury and suitability to do Yoga.  Here we offer Ashtanga Primary Series Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Hatha Postures, Poses and Stretches and the dynamic moving heat generating Vinyasa Flow Yoga.

In Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, the eightfold path is called ashtanga, which literally means "eight limbs" (ashta=eight, anga=limb). These eight steps basically act as guidelines on how to live a meaningful and purposeful life. They serve as a prescription for moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline; they direct attention toward one's health; and they help us to acknowledge the spiritual aspects of our nature.

The Eight Limbed Pathway :
1. Yama - ethical standards, sense of integrity, behaviour and conduct
2. Niyama - self discipline and spiritual observances
3. Asanas - physical postures for cleansing the body, temple of spirit
4. Pranayama - breath control, mastery over connecting the mind, and the emotions
5. Pratyahara - withdrawal of senses for transcendence, drawing attention inward
6. Dharana - Concentration, without outside influence dealing with distractions of the mind
7. Dhyana - Meditation and contemplation achieved by uninterrupted flow of concentration
8. Samadhi - the meditator merges with their point of focus, transcends the Self and connects with the Divine.  With this realization comes "the peace that passeth all understanding" experience.

Tai chi Qigong improves overall fitness, coordination, and agility. People who practice tai chi on a regular basis tend to have good posture, flexibility, and range of motion, are more mentally alert, and sleep more soundly at night.

The ancients have used the form of Tai chi Qigong as both a preventive and complementary therapy for a wide range of conditions. Specifically, it has been stated regular practice is beneficial for chronic pain, gout, heart disease, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, headaches, fibromyalga, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and sleep disorders - movement circulates the blood, and lymph removing toxins and bringing muscles and cells fresh oxygen to health.  Tai chi is also beneficial for the immune system and the central nervous system, which makes it especially good for people with a chronic illness, anxiety, viral infections, depression, or any stress related conditions.
